Sponsoring a Class | |
|
Most of the classes we hold are privately sponsored classes. We charge either a flat rate or per person fee for the class plus any travel expenses. Room and Board for our Instructors will be provided by the sponsor or can be built into the fees. The sponsor typically handles the course registrations. However, this can be done by CDS Outdoor if the sponsor does not have the ability to do so. Whether or not the sponsor wishes to open the class up to the general public is also up to the sponsor. If they want the course opened up the public, it will be listed on the CDS Outdoor web site and the WEMSI website if a WEMT class. It is up to the sponsor to determine what the per person cost will be, factoring in our costs, food, classroom, and any other expenses. We recommend setting a "break even" minimum at 15 participants. For classes that require patients for the course, we ask the sponsor to provide them. The sponsor will need to provide a classroom to accommodate the students for the lecture portions of the class. We will usually do scenarios and hands on work out of this location. For mock day, we require the nastiest; hardest to reach plot of wilderness/desert you can find. This should be in close driving distance from where the class is held. If you can arrange bad weather for mock day, we encourage this as well. A deposit is required when the class is set-up. This deposit is non-refundable and will be determined based upon anticipated travel expenses. For more information or for a quote, contact Don Scelza, the Education Director.
