Becoming an Instructor |
|
CDS Outdoor School, Inc. is a corporation that provides training to groups and individuals in Wilderness First Aid, Advanced Wilderness First Aid, Wilderness First Responder, Wilderness EMT, Basic Search and Rescue, and Managing Search Operations. Since its establishment in 1998, CDS has trained hundreds of individuals throughout the country and the world. Our programs were adopted in Ireland by the International House of Sport for use in certifying expedition guides, mountain rescue team members, outdoor instructors, and others. In addition, our Wilderness First Aid program is recognized by New York State as meeting the requirements for guide certification. All of the content for the courses was developed by CDS Outdoor School, Inc. based upon the guidelines and principles set by the Wilderness Medical Society (www.wms.org) and the Wilderness Emergency Medical Services Institute (www.wemsi.org). CDS is looking to expand its instructor base to expand our reach and extend our philosophies to a broader base of students. CDS does not place any limitations on our instructors and these instructors will have the ability to market classes to other groups. Each instructor candidate will receive: a detailed instructor’s manual (with class outlines, administrative guidelines, written tests, and other resources), a CD containing the PowerPoint Slides for the class, the Wilderness First Aid Student Textbook (published by the National Safety Council and Wilderness Medical Society), Patient Reference cards, and other instructional resources. At the successful completion of class, each instructor will be asked to sign an instructors agreement with CDS Outdoor School, Inc. This agreement will license the instructor to be able to use our materials, offer our courses, and use or name. CDS will offer ongoing support to the instructor by conducting annual training updates, posting instructor’s courses that are open to the public on our website, continual updating of course curriculum to meet the latest is wilderness emergency care, and serving as a technical resource for the instructor. The ideal Instructor candidate will have a strong wilderness background with some experience in street and/or wilderness first aid/EMS. IN ADDITION, YOU MUST HAVE COMPLETED THE CDS COURSE YOU WISH TO TEACH. Each instructor candidate must complete an instructor application prior to the class. CDS Outdoor School, Inc. reserves the right to deny a candidate entry into the course for lack of experience. Once becoming an instructor with CDS, you will become an independent entrepreneur and have the ability to run your own programs using our curriculum.
